What Is A Micron
And why it’s so important when choosing a water treatment system
If you have shopped for whole-house water systems, you will notice virtually none of the water filter companies discuss physical contaminants (such as sand, rust, sediment, debris, or bacteria) in their marketing. Even though these contaminants are very real and very present, those companies focus on chlorine taste and odor, but allow fine particles to pass through.
A clearly stated micron rating shows the filter provides physical contaminant removal, not just cosmetic water improvement.
If a company won’t disclose micron size, it usually means:
